Miracle Hunt

A Short Story by Frederick Alimonti

Our setting is New York; Jeff Patterson, a columnist for a popular magazine is given a plum assignment. He is to look for God, find modern miracles. He has months for research and a budget for travel anywhere the story takes him.

In lower Manhattan, a secretive proof reader at a large law firm stalks the streets and hospitals looking for victims, victims whose ills he can cure at the touch of his hand.

In a New York Hospital, a terminal patient makes a dramatic recovery, while in the bowels of New York’s subways, a deranged homeless person suddenly finds clarity and sanity.

Told from the perspective of these characters, and more, all story lines will converge on Mr. Patterson, who must first decide and then declare [or debunk] to his readers the truth of modern miracles.
