Poem Post: Bubble Idiot

Bubble Idiot

Bubble Idiot

Some modest satire

By Frederick Alimonti

I’m a bubble idiot.
Headphones glued to ear
I stumble through odd spaces
Your voice I do not hear.
My connections disconnect me
My music shuts you out
I said, I cannot hear you!
So seriously, why shout?

I’m a bubble idiot
I cannot read your face
So just shoot me a text
An emoji will replace

The droop of your neck
The glint in your eye
The curl your lip-
They pass me right by.

I’m a bubble idiot
I walk, my screen in hand
With all my worldly searches,
I just don’t understand

The beauty that surrounds me
The miracles great and small
I overload my senses
And don’t see them at all.

I’m a bubble idiot
I’ll die in it alone
Attached to tubes and wires
And feeling quite at home.
